There’s not all that much that you need to know to place a bet at an online sportsbook. They make it as simple as possible.

But for the tentative first-timers out there, you may feel better after we take you through the process, step by step. So here goes:

1. Choose an online sportsbook. This is one of the most important parts — so important, in fact, that we’ve devoted an entire page to it. We’ll just summarize here: do your research, read the rule, and you should be fine.
2. Sign up/ Create your account. Quite simple; just fill in the necessary information in the little boxes on the online sign-up page. They don’t get TOO personal, though you can’t be completely anonymous (for obvious reasons!). This process tends to be a little simple at a sportsbook than it is on an online casino USA, though not by much.
3. Fund your account. Also simple, and also similar to setting up your account. All you really have to do is decide what method you’ll use to deposit the money that you’ll be using for bets. Keep in mind that some credit cards aren’t accepted, directly, but there are a number of ‘electronic wallets’ that work very well.
4. Find and place your bets. This is the reason that you’re there, after all! Also, we may add, the single easiest thing to do on an online sportsbook site (playing online slots isn’t much harder, either!). Most of the time, there will be a list of categories right on the front page, so you should be able to select Football, or Hockey, or Snooker (no, really) right from that list. This will bring you to a more detailed list of individual bets, from the usual point spread bets to more specific lines. Select one, specify how much you want to put on it, and BAM! you’re done. Couldn’t be easier.
5. Repeat as needed, collecting your spoils as you go. Sometimes the company can’t pay you using the same method that you used to deposit (credit cards are especially prone to this snag). However, this only means that you’ll be getting your money some other way — we’ve said it before, but e-wallets are really the best way to go here.
